Discussion:
[ITK-users] dynamic vs static linking on Windows

We have a project that's been under development for a while, and a while back
it was the case that on Windows (at least) ITK had to be statically linked because of something to do with VNL.

We are revisiting this issue to decide whether we can dynamically link, and I wanted to see if there were any problems
dynamically linking ITK on windows or if they were fixed and which version.

Thanks

Hi Rick,

the way I remember, ITK had worked as either static or dynamic libraries
for years. Can you give DLLs another try and report any problems you
encounter at discourse <https://discourse.itk.org/>?

We won’t get to it for a while, but I will when we do.
Perhaps it was a bug in Visual Studio at one time.

Thanks

Rick
